The mission of Prichard Preparatory School is, "To educate students academically, spiritually and culturally, and to develop their character in preparation for their pursuit of collegiate degrees."
The vision is to provide a top-quality academic foundation for our students and to provide low-income parents the choice of a private education with affordable tuition to enable their children the opportunity to compete with students from top-level schools. Instead of offering a free education, "Miss" Ruby Eldridge believed that requiring parents to pay a portion of the tuition would result in parents being vested in their child's education and engaged in helping them succeed. This vision was and still is the foundation for Prichard Prep's mission.
The school was founded for the purpose of providing bright children with little to no financial resources the opportunity to fight the vicious cycle of poverty with a top-notch academic foundation upon which to build as they transition to college prep, private or magnet, middle and high schools. Equipping them with the education and skills necessary for high-level career achievement subsequent to receiving a college degree provides PPS students with an opportunity that most would not otherwise receive. Education is an investment in our future - now - and PPS dedicates its work to helping improve the quality of life for this community one student at a time. An oasis in the middle of a drug and crime-ridden area, PPS thrives in one of the poorest communities in the state of Alabama.
